meteorites

The Meteorites collection documents the development of knowledge about the origin and composition of meteorites since Edmund Halley first speculated in 1714 that they might originate in space. The collection also follows Ernst Chladni’s serious investigation and first substantial proposal (in 1794) of meteorites’ extraterrestrial origin. The Meteorites collection focuses on developments in the 18th and 19th centuries but also contains important publications dated as late as the early 2000s.  This is a mid-sized collection containing approximately 170 scientific documents and historical summaries.

This collection is available for sale as part of the larger series: Machines, Minds, and the Cosmos.
